The 7 R’s Of Being A Good Steward Of The Earth

The 7 R’s Of Being A Good Steward Of The Earth - How to Replace, Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair by Well Earth Goods

We are all familiar with the 3 R’s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle… So we've added 4 more based on the issues we see at Well Earth Goods; one for each day of the week.  Dedicate each day of the week to one R’ below. It helps keep things more manageable and less overwhelming when it comes to reducing plastic pollution. We can’t do it in one day, but maybe we can do it in… Seven?

Every day can be dedicated to all 7, but breaking things down one day at a time makes it easier to get used to.

Monday: REPLACE

Are you all out of plastic utensils or napkins for your next social distanced picnic? Try replacing these items with plastic-free and waste-free options instead.

Tuesday: RETHINK

Maybe Tuesday is the day you typically order out lunch, so why not take the time to research a new restaurant offering more eco-friendly to-go options? Better yet, consider packing a lunch in an eco-friendly food container and taking a quick trip to your favorite park or outdoor space to get some fresh air before heading back to work.

Wednesday: REFUSE

It’s Wednesday. You are craving a cup of coffee from your favorite local spot, but they continue to serve single use, styrofoam cups… Maybe today is the day you refuse to sip from styrofoam and instead try a cold brew at home with your favorite reusable straw.

Thursday: REDUCE

Consider walking where you can today or riding your bike to help reduce your carbon-footprint. Even if it is just a quick trip to the pharmacy. Thursday is for reducing our negative impact on the world.

Friday: REUSE

Time to dig through your recycling bin and see what you can reuse or even repurpose. Those wine bottles from yesterday’s pasta night could be great for candles!

Saturday: RECYCLE

Even if it isn’t recycling-day in your neighborhood, consider walking around for 10 minutes in the morning to pick up any trash or plastic you see.

Sunday: REPAIR

That bike you keep saying is “unfixable” may just need to be in the right hands. Do some research on repair shops in the area. Transform your old prom dress into your new favorite cocktail dress. Sew new patches on your old jeans. Sundays are for repairing.

From Our Family to Yours; Stay well.
